DIY Top Quilt - How is Your Foot Box Built

I'm going to finish up my top quilt this evening. I'm going to stuff my downy goodness, sew up the edge, and construct the footboy. I'm still debating on how to best build my foot box. There are probably a thousand different ways to build the foot box, but I'm considering three:

    - Velcro
    - Snaps
    - Sewn

Im leaning towards the velcro option because I want to be able to open it up completely. Snaps always seem to leave gaps.

However, I wouldn't mind hearing from folks (especially those who have done their own DIY top quilt) to see how their foot box is put together and that they like/dislike about it. If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?

IMO, it would depend on the temp rating of the TQ. For my 20° Tq, I have the foot sewn. I don't expect to have to open it. When I get around to getting a summer quilt, it would either be snaps or Velcro. I am leaning toward snaps. I just don't much care for Velcro. Every little thing likes to stick and after repeated use, it just doesn't seem to hold as well.......RR

I did snaps on mine. It was really easy and it works well. Velcro is additional sewing and has that snagging potential. The snaps hold well and get the job done.

I use omni-tape, which is a velcro with both the soft and prickly parts mixed on the same side. That is less abrasive to the quilt material. Some complain that it doesn't hold well enough, but I have never had one open on me and I'm a restless sleeper.

My quilts are also wearable (they have a neck hole, also with omni-tape) and the omni-tape footbox allows me to open the quilt flat to wear as a serape.

    Sewn.
Can't think why I'd ever need to open it up . . .

Thanks for the input. I think I'll go for a sewn footbox. The more I considered about Velcro, the more I thought about it snagging, collecting debris, and tearing things up.

    Thanks

I have both sewn and snaps. I have my deeep winter TQ sewn. there is no reason for me at those temps to want it open. However my 20* have snaps. I use that quilt the rest of the seasons and so I can vent it when I am in summer mode.
