    old down bag UQ

Have yet to see anyone suggest this? I just cut the foot box open and lopped off the hood and zipper, catching down as it flew all over the basement. Sew the bad boy up and add three tie outs to the top, and two at the feet for bungees ( on a HH).

    Voila.

i read, some years ago, about a guy who did very minimalistic camping/backpacking on a shoe string budget

his trick was to take an old down bag w/ a bad zipper, cut it off about mid body, put a draw string in it & use it for the bottom half of his sleeping system

the top of his system was his down coat, which overlapped the bottom

sure reduced his pack size & kept his footsies toasty

    kinda similar in concept±
