    Which, XLC or 10' WBBB?

I'm 6'3" 195 lb, and probably would prefer a flatter lay. Would you go with the XLC or the original version? Also, given the ridge line, would a 10'x8' tarp work for one or both? Thanks for the advice.

I've not seen an XLC in person yet but given your size, an 11 foot hammock may give you more comfort. A 10' tarp would be adequate for a 10' hammock but may be pushing it on an 11' hammock. A 10' hammock will typically have a 100" ridgeline giving you 10" of tarp coverage per end. If pitched well, you could get by with that. An 11' foot hammock's ridgeline would be around 108" so you'll only have 6 inches of coverage per end. That would be ok in a straight down gently rain but in drving rain and windy conditions you'll probably want more coverage. I've taken my 8' x 10' tarp on day hikes but I wouldn't go less that 11' x 9' if I really had to depend on the tarp for extending outings.

I'm 6'1" and am waiting on the XLC now. I think with our taller statures the hammocks will be more comfy. As far as tarps, you could maybe pitch the 8x10 corner to corner and get a fit but imo I would go for a bigger tarp. Enjoy whatever you pick.

Just get the Ridgerunner. So flat you can sleep on your stomach.

At your height, I would say go for the XLC, and if you need to, get a bigger tarp. I think if you get the 10' one, you will later wish you got the XLC. I'm only 5'10 and I would go for the XLC, much flatter lay, and more features. Just my $.02.

Just food for thought: there seems to be a trend developing where folks are going retro towards shorter hammock- not just for lower weight but for greater comfort, believe it or not. Some have been experimenting with below 10 or even 9 feet with surprising results. Couldn't say how it would work out between the 10 ft vs 11 ft WBBB though. I only have experience with the original.
