Friends on HF........

....where do they all go?
I have a bunch of Friends on here and when I look on there most are long gone or else just never post or maybe learned all they could and flew the coop or maybe went back to ground or..........
What exactly is Friends for?
I always approve a Friend contact but have never been sure what the deal is.
Just a nice thing?

Always a bit forlorn to see how many are inactive.
I am not looking for Friends......just curious as to what and what for.

I often wonder where people go....you see posts all the time for a while then they disappear, no see ya later or thanks for the fun on the forum but I am moving on. They just vanish.

Don't think I've ever seen an explaination for what "Friends" were either. I've always approved it but never have seen anything in particular related to that listing.

I think forums in general just kind of felt they needed to join the social networking craze and make a 'friends' option... Every forum I use has that feature, and none of them seem to have any particularly practical use...
