He wasn't around that long and didn't get much use either. There was a visible imperfection along one of the side seams, but not where this catastrophe took place. It's possible there was another bad spot I had not previously detected. Perhaps in setting up and taking down I snagged a spot in it, or maybe my son poked through with something, who knows? I could swear that I heard something that sounded like the stand giving way before my carcass hit the ground, but I couldn't detect any changes in the stand afterwards. Oh well. Not a huge loss, but with the thickness of this material, it is really making me leary of taking a single layer into the backcountry; at least not without a backup hammock. Sorry no video of the fall, only this obituary pic.
