Truckers hitch. I don't do the Marlin spike thing. Probably should but most of my whoopies are larks headed to Carabiners that snap onto the straps. But I use that Truckers hitch everywhere especially on my truck when I'm moving my daughter, tying down a load Wow do I use it in winter. My Ford has a cutout in the bed for a 2x10 board to keep the groceries at the back of the bed. In winter I put for ropes around that, lay my tube sand on the ropes and then use the truckers hitch to strap them to the board. Keeps the weight right over the axel where it does the most good. Before I did that the weight would slide up to the cab and I'd have that standard light rear end pickup truck traction. Weight over the axle I rarely ever wish I had 4 wheel drive. (I still do wish I'd bought it though)
