I think that there's 2 types of UQ users; those that have ridden them down to the ground and those who will.

    Guys....I'm an idiot

I think most of us view the trees we attach to as immovable objects. The truth of the matter is that that's just not true!

I have cautioned folks on more than one occasion to be careful of hanging at more than about 30°, not because the suspension may fail, but why tempt mother nature (as the old margarine commercial used to say).

The main thing here is that I'm glad you are safe!

Glad you are un-scathed! Best way to learn to truly eye-ball those trees pre-hang.
I look for ones that may get hung up on other trees.

    thanks for the reminder

Thanks for the warning. I am sure I am capable of just the same and in fact am heading out in minutes for my first hammock camping trip. I appreciate your honesty sharing your experience, and I for one intend to benefit from the experience you gained.

That was the good part, the tree didn't actually fall all the way down because it did get caught on another tree. Very thankful for it!

I'm surprised I haven't done this myself. Blind in one eye, no depth perception, and a tendency to hike at night. Thanks for the reminder to keep my blind butt safe.

It can happen to the best of us. I'm just glad it happened in my room and not of the side of a mountain or this story might never have been told.

How the heck did you flip out of a HH? I would end upside down in a fly screen wrapped in a banana if that happened to me.
