How small does it pack/ compress? I made a PLUQ but have not really tried to put it in a small stuff sac, seems to take up a lot of room I'm my pack but agai that is probably my less than adequate packing skill

Pancho liners are wonderful and cheap things. I would agree with the temp rating of low 30's with the fleece. Adding a piece of insulbrite to the UQ seems to make a nice difference too.
I ended up cutting a round piece and sowing it in for the foot end. For an added touch put a couple buttons on the fleece to make sure it says with the poncho liner nicely.
I sewed a piece of cloth tape to the bottom so that when I get it rolled, I could tie it off. Didn't help compressing it, but kept it together.
Did you cut the round piece from the liner or use something else? My wife suggested getting some quilted material from JoAnne's and using that in the bottom.
Guys,
I decided to try a PLTQ with a box foot, tapered to the top.
Started out with a PL fresh from the surplus store

You can see the line on the bottom of the quilt where I cut it off to make it square on the bottom.

Then I laid out a 13" x 13" foot box. The box will be folded up and sewed along the sides. The raw quilt is 63" wide at the bottom. I only need 53". That will leave 20" each side of the box cutout to sew up the box with some overlap underneath. I marked off 5" from each side of the bottom of the PL and drew a cutout line up to the top of the sides of the quilt. If this is clear as mud look at the later pics to see where the grosgrain runs up the long sides of the quilt.
And cut it all out

Next I sewed the grosgrain along the long sides and then sewed up the footbox. Once the box was sewn, I added grosgrain to the box for a more finished look.

Turn the sewn side in to reveal the finished PLTQ!

It rolls up to 5 1/2" x 10" and weighs 1 lb 1 oz. That is a 25 oz. water bottle in the pic.

I am 5' 11" tall and the finished quilt will pull up to my nose. I wear size 13 shoes hence the big foot box. Others could make it smaller
This will be used with my PLUQ which I finished to 42" wide at the ends, 48" wide in the middle and 60" long to match the dimensions of my IXUQ. It rolls up to 4 1/2" x 11" and weighs 14 oz.

I will be using a short CCF pad with the underquilts.
Hope to try it out at the Smoked Butt Hang in 2 weeks - See You There!
Hey that's a nice looking set up. I need to get my 2 poncho liners and get mine done for the summer. It looks like you UQ fit we'll after I left Tuesday morning.
What company are your poncho liners made by? I am thoroughly jealous! Great lookin stuff!
Oh and enjoy the smoked butt hang. Ps. Don't hang your hammock over the fire; you don't want your hammock smoked too...
