    Dang you all!

Like I needed one more hobby in my life to obsess over!!

My name's Chad, born raised and never escaped the northeast US... Massachusetts specifically. The last few years all my camping has been with my son's scout troop but lately I've been looking at the Hennessy and Clark websites, watching video and imagining the hanging life.

Of course, life is currently pretty full and finances are always tight but I did just come into 3600 sq. ft. of ripstop nylon. Not sure the weight and it's not waterproof in any way but thinking it might be good enough to do some experimenting with at the very least.

Anyway, still new but thank you all for your information. I look forward to feeding my new obsession soon.

Welcome from Florida. It sounds like you will find a home here.
Lots of hangers to hang with in New England, and that includes during the winter.

Thanks Mike. I'm sure it will take a bit to find my way around the forums but looking forward to it.

    Dang you all!

Glad to have you! Never escaped MA myself, though I've certainly tried! Hope to see you at the NEHHA hangs!

I'm sure I would love to but so far still Hammock-less. Would be a very boring hang if I showed up with a boring old ground tent LOL

    Someday though!

Don't let that stop you! Some of my best friends sleep in tents. I don't hold it against them.

Seriously. If you don't have a hammock by June 7-9 you'll at least be able to try everyone else's out. We like to share.

Oh, and you have enough ripstop to make more than a few experimental hammocks!

===> Welcome from MA here, too! Listen, I have several hammocks, and am happy to lend you one to join us at a NEHHA hang in June or Sept. I have an extra WBBB you can use fro the weekend, so you try a high end hammock!

Hey! PSSST! Over here! The first hit is free! Just try it ~ it's easy! And fun! Really! Doesn't hurt at all...come with us...

Man, there has to be a "Like" button, or kudos cuz that made me laugh.

I may take you up on that but my name, Wideguy, ...
Well let's just say Im gravitationally gifted. I may wait and not risk busying up someone else's gear first.

===> Well, that's okay, too. My WBBB is only a 1.1 oz fabric, and you would need a 1.7 or 1.9, methinks. But I understand! I have a good friend that can never go bowling, because when he throws the ball, it just orbits his body, due to him generating his own specific gravity! I am trying to get him into a hammock, though, and should be successful this summer!

Hope to see you at a hang someday!

Hey Wide guy welcome to this craziness called Hammock Forums. A better group of people will be hard to find. As lilprincess mentioned there are plenty in the NEHHA (Northeast Hammock Hanging Assoc.) group that can let you borrow a full setup if you need. This will also give you a chance to see others that you may like more than others. Check out the trip, hang planning thread.
