Infinite information, experience, odd sense of an community in a sea of tents, and occasionally bartering goods!

Squidbilly's wife here - I love this forum because you have all encouraged my hubby to make his own gear and he has developed quite the talent (and fabric stash). He laughs as he reads your stories, then shares them with me. You guys really are a large family, but a very well behaved one. This is a rare forum you have here, and I hope you all realize that and continue to do whatever it is you do so eloquently.

Oh, and I am loving the spoon! I wonder how large a piece of wood you would need to carry to make me a fruit bowl?

What keeps me coming back daily is the fact that I learn something new each and every time I log on. Let me just say, splicing is addicting.

What keeps me a fan is the sense of family and the "why didn't I think of that" innovation.

    That spoon is really neat.

I just found the hammock forum earlier this month. I found a wealth of information in the past three weeks. I have been on several forums in my life and never found a group of people who are so darn friendly and helpful.

Since joining the forums, I purchased my first hammock and the first night in it, I had to bail out around 2:30am because I got cold. The community helped me troubleshoot and my second attempt went much better, but still had to bail around 5:30am. Once again, the community came to my rescue with more advice and tips. My third attempt will happen sometime this week and I have no doubt that the community here will once again be there to offer any guidance if I need it. Although, I think I'm ready for this next one and think I should make it all night long.

I am a father of four wonderful but young kids. They are not old enough to live vicariously through them. So I come to the hammock forum to live vicariously through all of the experiences I read about!!

Just my way of saying Thank You...

I find great satisfaction working with youth. I have coached sports and served as a leader in Scouts for 13 years. Since coming to HF last Fall I now have found a whole new source of information to share. My youngest calls me a hammock gypsy cause all I talk about now is hanging.
