Nah, putting a breathable panel in is pretty easy. I made one for my WB ElDorado when I was living in Florida; all that humidity made a cool night downright cold. I just put a 10" strip of plain old 1.1 ripstop from end to end on the top. All it amounted to was an extra seam. I'm way too lazy to have to reapply Scotchguard, I have enough problems remembering the Peremethrin.

Have you tried that fancy sock you scored off of me at at Mt. Rogers yet? I'm curious - it was a totally untested design/fabric combo, so I need to know if it works. Oh, and for anyone reading this thread, HC4U roasts some mean coffee! I thought I died and went to coffee heaven when I brewed up some of his roast!
I got to use it for a couple of hours on Sunday. I REALLY like the silk sock. I am thinking about making a silk sock for my other hammocks. There is definitely a silk top cover coming for my WB BB.

What kind of silk did you use? There is a place here in Denver that sells silk at pretty reasonable prices (Denver Fabrics), but too many different types.

I'd have to look at the roll - something I picked up at JoAnne's clearance aisle. Similar roll of silk (different colors) just visible in the picture below, behind the head end of the BB.

I have a topcover prototype for the BB as well, but it will have to wait for general release. This one, I am doing instructions on - it is just too cool to not release. Teaser Pics:

All this DIY gear has got to be *very* teasing to the original poster who asked where to get one...

Anybody like to volunteer to make one for him?

Are you appealing to my better nature?

I see that the original poster (asimmons4) has an ENO single. asimmons4, is this the hammock that you are planning on using the sock for? I may be able to help. I just can't guarantee how long it will take, due to school obligations right now (also the wife HATES it when I sit in the basement sewing all day.) It may take a day, it may take a month. That is the only reason I was hesitant to begin with - time constraints and a wife who actually wants me to spend time with her.

No indeed! You know that I'd never do that..

You can handle rolling fog with a tarp that blocks the wind or by being on the leeward side of something (mountain?) that blocks the wind from getting to you. I've been in rolling fog in north Georgia many times without getting particularly damp from it... fog that settles in for a while is a different story. You can do pretty well with an 8x10 tarp if you use a storm pitch where you are pretty much up inside the tarp blocking as much wind as you can.

Fog banks can be at any elevation. I've been high and seen them cover the valleys below. I've been in gaps and watched them settle in on the peaks. Your best chance (I think) is mid level at the gaps. Little Weasel and I woke up to rolling fog last October near Tray Mountain Shelter but I don't think we got wet from it. We realized it was blowing in at daybreak. We were down below the wind on the leeward side and we just got up and out quickly. Once we got to a lower elevation we were out of the fog bank.
