    silly stupid question.

1.1, 1.7, 1.9 nylon...refers to weight? Trying to determine the strength of my free ripstop. As simple as cut a sq. Yd. and weigh it?

Yes weight. Oz per square yard.

Instead of cutting it, I would cut of the selvage then measure it and weigh the whole lot. Then all you need to do is do a little math to work out how much it weighs per yard.

Well I'll decode if I weigh it whole or cut it but probably will cut it since it's 60'x60'. I was to do some playing with dyeing it and making my own sil treatment anyway.

60 feet by 60 feet...that's one big piece of nylon.

Google dying nylon. It's not the easiest material to get good results with.

Yeah and the seams are pretty wide spaced. It was a projection screen for outdoor laser shows. Long story

Weigh the whole piece then divide by total square yards.
