If like to make this one! Not sure where I'll be as far as work goes. I work some weekends. If I can make it happen that would be nice. Tumbleweedz I live in Delavan and might be interested in a carpool if you want save some gas money. I've really have the itch to be out in the woods. It's been all work no play lately.

Just wanted to throw this out for a location idea. Lots of water if we have any fisherman or paddlers. And a lot of area for backcountry camping. Just an idea. And a place I've wanted to check out for a while.http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/stateforests/nhal/

Let's stay connected regarding car pool. That's a long ride with 2 cars.

I am thinking the weekend of May 10-12. That's a Friday through Sunday.
A possible venue are some campsites on the South end of Star Lake. These are water access sites, but there also is a hiking trail off of Rearing Pond Rd. which provides for a short walk-in. Advantages to these sites are they are private, and there is no charge to use them. Star Lake has a good walleye population, and fishing season opens the weekend before. If people want to access the sites by water, there is the option of canoe, kayak, or powerboat.

I'm trying to figure out how to attach a map.

    1st Alternate Venue- Nixon Lake

An alternate venue is Nixon Lake. There is a single water access site on the North end of the lake. It is possible to access the site by foot, with a walk-in of less than a mile from Nixon Lake Rd.
Advantages- Remote, private, good fishing lake, free camping, established campsite.
Disadvantage- May be difficult to access by land. I would like to check out the walk-in route after the snow melts.

Nixon Lake is in the upper righthand corner of the map.

    2nd Alternate Venue--Fish Trap Lake

Another venue is Fish Trap Lake. There is a short dam between Fish Trap and High Lakes. You can drive into site 8 and others close by off of High Lake Rd. Once you cross the dam, there are miles of hiking trails on the other side. These trails also can be used by mountain bikers.
Advantages- Private, remote, probably low pressure, don't know if there is a camping fee-may be free, water access for canoes, kayaks, boats, fishing.

The one site is right across the dam from where you park at Dam Road for the access. It's the Lumberjack Trail and is a nice wide rolling hike that could link up to other trails in the area.
