Great thread!
Great thread!
Thanks for the demo.
I'm such a knot nerd, but haven't seen this thread yet! Tagging for future reference.
Great post. Im no good at knots. I need to get at least these memorized!
OP: You mentioned a "Figure 8 on a Bight" being difficult to untie after use. That is indeed the case, which is why I prefer a "Figure 9 on a Bight." I think you'll find that knot just as useful and much easier to untie at the end of the day.
Here's an attempt at explaining how it's tied:
Start off like you would with a Figure 8, but rather than bringing the working in down through the bight to finish it off, wrap the working in around another half turn, then up through the bight.
Great Post - I find myself coming back it to it before trips to brush up on these skills!
Terrific stuff! Pretty sure this needs to be "sticky" so that newbies can always find it easily.
Great vids buddy,
if anyone is unfamiliar with what rat is descriing when he refers to ABoK, he is referring to 'the Bible of the Temple of the knotted line' A book titled Ashley's Book of Knots. If thats the way it is written in Ashley's thats the right answer.
As a fellow Tech Rescue guy (PSD), JB is absolutely right. That said, when it comes to issues not involving life or death hardare does make like quite a bit less stressful for things like hanging.
Have you got a video for the Zep Bend?
This is super helpful to an old newbie like me. Thanks!
