how often do you wash your down TQ/UQ? Just washed mine for the first time after sometime of use. i just wanted to know because i started to see some loft issuess and some cold spots, thats why i decided to wash them. but i also dont want to wash them too often and ruin them. thanks for your input.
If your using the down wash... I don't think you can hurt it too much... But depending on usage I would think once a year should be fine...

Yea i go out alot, ive done 250 plus trail miles last year alone and go camping with the kids in the summer all the time. I used gear aid down wash, and all my quilts look brand new and so fluffy. thanks for your response brute!
The reported keys to washing are thorough rinsing and complete drying. The latter can take a lot of time, but IMO is abetted considerably by hi-speed centrifuge to get the most water out after the last rinse. Beware hot spots in a dryer damaging the nylon.
Down has been washed multiple times before it gets to the garment maker, in detergents and in hot water for sterility.
A carefully attended UQ should only rarely need to be washed. I'd brush mud stains off. I extend TQ lintervals between washings by putting a covered body under it, when possible. Long sleeves, pants, and clean hands, neck, and face.
