Use A Zpacks Hammock Tarp With WB Ridge Runner?

I have a Zpacks Cuben Hammock Tarp w/Doors and was wondering if it will work with Warbonnet Ridge Runner. I already own the tarp and was thinking about adding the Ridge Runner to my lineup. Anyone tried this setup?

    Thanks

I haven't tried the set-up your referring too but I have tried my Grizz Bridge under a cuben tarp, and all I can say is be very careful as I put a hole in my tarp from the spreader bar of the hammock.

I was real careful getting in and a big gust of wind hit my tarp broadside as I was sitting in the hammock, next thing I heard was a loud "POP". That is the sound of a spreader bar going through a cuben tarp...for me at least.

It can be done without damage to the tarp, I had done it for a few nights before without issue, just make sure you carry some repair tape, I use cuben single sided tape now as at that time all I had was duct tape, and what a nightmare it was getting it off the tarp to fix with cuben tape, it took some of the laminate off.

I too popped a hole in my cuben in a Bridge. They pitch tightly and that spreader bar will tear it easily.
Pitch it high and wide if you do.

That's my concern - I really don't want to wear a hole in my fancy cuben tarp

Maybe you can put some padding on the ends of the spreader bars. A friend of mine uses treking poles and sticks cut wiffle balls on the sharp ends to avoid accidental spearing. Wiffle balls that are often also used as projectiles at fellow campers during the day XP.

Be glad when someone comes out with a cuben tarp designed for the RR. I have been holding off buying one for this reason.

Been looking at those quickie pull-outs from Dutch and some kind of protective cap. Wiffle balls is an interesting idea.

I am sure that if you were to contact Adam or Joe they will make you a tarp fit for the RR!

All you would need are the measurements and they could put panel pulls at those spots, then you could also have those spots reinforced with a thicker cuben. Also make it to a size (width) that you could hang it a little higher but still have the side coverage you want/need.

Not saying this would be a permanent fix, but this would probably help with avoiding a problem. Even still I would always carry some way to fix the tarp, myself I carry cuben tape.

I had Adam at HG make me a custom cuben tarp for my ridgerunner. The side pullouts are properly spaced for the spreader bars. Here is a thread I started with pics describing what he made for me.

There you go, perfect example....Adam and Joe will do custom work, and they will help you out. Maybe you could send your tarp in and have a mod done to it to accommodate the RR????? I am sure they would help you out, all you have to do is ask.
