    Tarp lines

I have a second tarp I need to outfit with cordage. Can't seem to figure it out. So many choices, so many options. I'm not striving for UL status, but I certainly appreciate their methods. So I have this Clark Vertex tarp I need to get set up, and I can't come close to a decision as to what to use to tie it up and hold it down with. I have some tech-line for prussics, but I don't know if I should go with the dacron/dyneema cord that came with my WB Edge (thanks Taylo!), the paracord I have a big hank of, or get something else. I didn't see this discussed in the last 10 pages, so I thought I would toss it out there for me and the other newbies figuring this out.

And BTW, with the 8 tie out points on this tarp (2 ridgeline and 6 on the sides) how many feet would be enough? With my Edge, as it came to me, I need to use tech-line dogbones to enable porch-mode. Will 50' get it done, or get 2 50' hanks and have some left over?

I just set my wife's superfly clone, up with 50' of g-line from litehiker.com and 25' of zing it. I still have a little left that I need to setup the side pull outs with. I hope to get a video of it by Wednesday when I have the day off. I still have to put three pull outs on it. It's had been one of my most challenging projects yet.

I use that same gline. I think the correct website is ...
    http://litetrail.com/shop/litetrail-...e-cord-50-feet

It's about the lightest stuff around that is still easy to work with.
I used 50' of the hi-vis orange for the side and door tie-outs on my HammockGear 4-season cuben tarp.
I use gray line for my ridgeline.

Personally, I don't like glow in the dark reflective lines, but I don't like tripping over them either. When I shine my headlamp on the orange lines at night, I can see them, but folks in the next county cannot. Yellow Zing-it also has this quality.

However, some folks like highly reflective lines. I can understand the advantage if you car camp in campgrounds.

I'm gonna try and order some when he gets it in stock. Does tech-line make a good klemheist/prussik with this line?

I wouldn't think so. When it comes to putting knots on a rope it is always best to go at least the same size or smaller. I use the same g-line for Valdotain Tresse Knot. I like this knot better than the prussicks and slightly more than the klemheist
    Hope this helps.

Shug recommended in a video Spectra No Tangle Guy Line. Here's a link, because I'm not edumacated enough to actually put the video on the comment.
    LINK

I bought a pack of it. I made my ridge line 30'. With 8 perimeter attachment points, I used 48' (6' at each point). I made a few prusiks and had somewhere around 15-20' left over, which left me a little short since I have 4 side-panel pull outs.

So far it seems like it's going to work great, and its easy to work with.

I didn't realize the g-line was so small. But the knot is awesome, thanks for sharing that!

I haven't seen that knot before, thanks!
It's basically a klemheist but instead of being made with a loop, it has two free ends that are closed with a biner.

Yeah as the video states it is for climbers usually and we use what is called an eye to eye. What we would call a dog bone splice. So what I do is just tie a square knot with the two ends around the anchor point.
