I just ordered a Skeeta-Tent off ebay for $19.99 with shipping. Cost a little more than a few others, but this it comes from a top rated seller of military surplus and states that it looks to be new unused old stock.

What kind of modifications do you suggest to make it work better with a hammock?

I've heard of people just simply draping it over the ridge line and weighting the edges, or if you look back in this thread you can see what I did. There are many options and the question is basically how fancy do you want to get. I can tell you from experience that making it into a tube, pulling it above your head and cinching it doesn't work very well.

    Thanks Mouseskowitz.

I'll probably try the simple weighted bottom and go from there. I like the idea of shock cord underneath but for now I will stick with the KISS principle.
Anything is an improvement over the nothing I have now.

I actually ordered four from SG and those things are 16' long. I plan to shorten them and add shock cord to the bottom to close them up. However, I used one last weekend and it worked fine without being closed at the bottom. I mind more that it is so long. I am hoping to give the grandkids each one for their hammocks.

I may PIF one, so keep your eyes open for it.

I cut several feet off the end of mine. I've never messed with the bottom shock cord method, so I'm not sure how it would affect that. If memory serves, I cut it at the tent stake hole, but measure before cutting.

    Alternate "Easy" Solution

Cryptic Cricket has a really good video on how to make a cheap and easy bugnet. I am getting ready to make one with my first DIY hammock.
I know you guys are comparing already made hammocks but this thing only has 3 seams to sew. Plus it costs about 11 bucks to make. I'll post pictures when I get mine done.

Keep it simple. The more crap you have and the more complicated it is, the more likely it is to break. Get back to basics man!

Thanks Odie! Going to Wally World this morning anyway so will have a look at these curtains. May be just what I need for my evolving "Pappy Special" DIY hammock.

I don't have a weight yet. I am going to make one or two tonight. My son has a camping trip this weekend that I wish I were going on. I hurt my back a couple weeks ago and I can't handle sleeping on the ground since our hammocks aren't finished yet. I am going to make the bug net and teach him how to pitch it under his tarp so he can stay bug free, even on the ground. Ill send pics then get a weight as soon as I can. I have a friend that works at a local copy/mail center. Hopefully she has a postal scale that can indicate grams and can weigh it for me.

Just purchased two of these bug nets from the sportsman link. The Used models show to be in stock now.
