    Who is using 2" straps?

I know there were a few of us using 2" seatbelt straps for a while. Any of you still out there?

    Hello?

    Anybody there?

If you are, I'd like some edumacation on them. What are you using for hardware (rings, buckles, whatever) and what is the weight of your suspension? I've had a couple of folks that aren't real knowledgeable in the ways of the hammock ask me about 2" straps instead of the one-inchers that I use. Having not used them, I don't have good answers for them and I'd like to.

Are you using 2" straps out of concern for the trees?
Are you using them because that's what was available?
Or, is that just how you roll?

I'm guessing that those of you that do use the 2" straps are more campers than hikers. Is that a fair guess?

    I'z gotz questions!!!!
    Trust nobody!

I still have my 2" Hennessy 3 ft tree straps. I like them better than 1" even if I extend them on the low pressure side.

I still rock my Hennessey 2" straps here and ther but mostly as a spare to new hammockers or as a lazy day out in the yard.

i use 2 " straps for myself i like the extra secure feeling, i have 1" as well but i just like the 2's to hold my 265 lb frame. i use them with a toggle and whoopies plus i use sliding whip knot up the whoopies to make sure it don't pop off.

there was a BIAS? thread a while back asking about 2 inch straps because a few places/states REQUIRE 2"... so some people are using them without the choice of 1"...

I just finished my DIY 2" straps the other day for this exact reason.

Unneeded strength and too much weight

Seatbelts include a BS of 6000 lb among their performance specifications. Due to their resultant weight, I slit the ones I salvaged from scrap cars in half, and then bound the cut-edges, overcasting with a zig-zag sewing stitch. Do I use 2" seatbelting? Yes, shared between the two trees.

    Who is using 2" straps?

I use seat belts but no buckles or anything, just a loop tied in one end and a carabiner in the other.
It's a bit bulky but I don't hike and have used them to hang my bike for repairs. For the cost, strength and usefulness I don't think you can go wrong.
