That is a fair suspicion, but there is some precedent to it.
I know of at least 2 veteran hangers that experienced exactly what you are talking about; long established hammock that disintegrates without warning.

ENOs always seem to be the hammock in these stories. It's very weird. Infrequent, but weird.
