sleeping bag to top and bottom quilt conversion?

Anyone tried cutting a hole and adding a drawstring to a sleeping bag and running the hammock through it? Seems like a decently easy DIY mod. Just an idea.

If anyone out there has done this I'm curious how well it seems to work.

Works good, I've done it a couple of times. Here is one of them.

I use Swiss Gear, 35* bag that has a zippered opening at the foot that made it easy to mod. I also use some shock cord attached at each end so the bag doesn't bunch up in the middle. It serves as my UQ and TQ. It is left partially unzipped to adjust for tempature or add another layer in side.

Yes. I have what you wouldcall a peapod design. There is a list of likes, as well as dislikes.

    #1 It is very warm.

#1 very hard to get into.
#2 not very much room( not good if your closterphobic)
    #3 Hard to zip up
While this is a great idea. It has one major downfall. The length. IF your bag is as long as your hammock. Go right ahead I HIGHLY recomend this. BUT! If it's not. You will have to spread your hammock apart to get in. Then once you're in, you must try the difficult task of zipping it up. However if you can acomplish this. You will have a very warm sleep.
I, noticing this problem, have come up with a cure for this. And I am currently working on designing a new system that can be used all seasons. how ever because this is difficult to explain and and because I have no blueprints to show you. You will just have to wait until it's finished, or I have a set of blue prints drawn....
