    ENO vs. Hennessy

I am looking to purchase a hammock system (rain fly, bug net, etc.) to use on weekend mountain bike trips. I guess my main criteria for the system is comfort and easy to set up. I was initially thinking of going the ENO route with atlas straps (I don't like the idea of sagging straps), but as I have read a little bit, there might be better options (whoopi thingamajigs maybe). I have also noticed several used hennessy hammocks on ebay that might do the trick. Any suggestions are appreciated. In the meantime, I'll keep reading.

    ENO vs. Hennessy

I tried the WBBB and WBBB XLC. I found my Eno DN to be the most comfortable.

My friend and I both got into hammocks at the same time a few years ago: he bought a full ENO setup, while I bought a Hennessy Expedition Asym Zip. From our first night out together, I felt I bought the better system, hands down. And mine was cheaper too.

With the hennessy, do you enter the bottom and then zip the hammock closed? I saw one of the hammocks by hennessy on youtube and it didn't close at all. I looked like you just straddle the hole. I am trying to differentiate b/t the different versions of the hennessy and what would be the best for me. How easy is the hennessy to set up? Thanks

The Hennessy bottom hole will close from your weight in the hammock. The original one's do not have velcro but the newer one's do to placate folks who worried. Either way you need to work to open the door.

The zipper Hennessy hammocks have a zipper along the seam for the bug net. You get in from the top. No bottom hole.

Either way I would go with the Hennessy unless I am missing something. Most of the year you will probably want a bug net. It looks like you will need to figure that out with the ENO while the Hennessy has it built in.

    ENO vs. Hennessy

Atlas straps do not sag. You're thinking if slap straps or slap straps pro.

ENO DN and Atlas straps are very easy to use. I like mine.

if you are looking at it from a financial aspect, from what i can tell, you will spend less going with the ENO setup, than the Hennessy, from what i have seen.

Hennessy by far the better system.

    1. Its all inclusive everything cam be set up at the same time, including the tarp. Some folks prefer to hang the tarp by itself as it tends to sag when you are lying in the hammock.

    2. Once you include the price of the tarp, bugnet, and hammock, most Hennessey's end up being cheaper. ENO sucks you in with a cheap hammock, then overprices the two other essential items. Add up the total cost of the ENO system and if you want to spend that much money, buy a Hennessy of comparable price. Deep Jungle, Explorer, and Safari's will fall in that range, and they are bigger and more comfortable than the ENO system at that price.

    3. Hennessey's hold thier value. Look through the For Sale thread on this forum. You will see more Hennessy's have been sold than ENOs, and at a higher price.

    4. Several Hennessey models are side zip, if the bottom entry bothers you. The only bug net you can get for an ENO is an overlarge monstrosity that is difficult to get in and out of.

    5. The stock Hennessey tarp is as good as the ENO tarp, but you can upgrade to a Hennessy Hex for little or no money when ordering your Hennessey.

    6. I've found both of my Hennessey's much more comfortable than my ENO.

    ENO vs. Hennessy

The hennessy makes more sense all around.

The eno DN is a comfortable hammock, but their tarps and bug net design leave much to be desired.
