    First hang in Hennessey Explorer

My Hennessey Explorer arrived yesterday and I couldn't wait a day to put it up.
With only one large tree in my backyard, I thought I'd have a go hanging on the
    deck.

Attached to the deck posts, attached as per Hennessey instructions (I think).

It looks so familiar from seeing so many on the forums, but this one is mine.

Despite having loads of cover from the deck, I hung the tarp just to try it out.

I was tentative getting in, and the webbing creaked a lot. I'm not sure if the painted poles are a little bit slippery; they webbing didn't slip down though.

I was warm and comfortable on my first hang, 19ºC (66ºF) with a blanket below me and a sleeping bag on top. I gave up after an hour because of the noise, loud neighbours and cars were so loud when there are no windows to block the noise.

Next attempt I'll grab some earplugs, but I am very happy with my hammock, quickly set it up for an afternoon hang while reading. It's just to comfortable!

Congrats on the new gear and welcome to HF. I know what you mean, I am always anxious to play with any new gear I get too. . There's always some new piece of gear I'm wanting. I just got some new HG quilts a couple weeks ago. So I should be set in that department for awhile. Enjoy your new hammock and tarp!!!

Great looking first hang! A word of advice on the figure 8 lash, make sure to put a couple half hitches below it to finish it off. Otherwise it is likely to let go. That wouldn't be a pleasant way to wake up.

Great hang, though I probably wouldn't put that sort of stress on the porch posts very often. The other suggestion I would make is to get some thin Spectra cord and a couple of Figure 9s and rig the tarp separately from the hammock suspension. That has all kinds of advantages -- it keeps the tarp nice and tight, and helps with setting up and tearing down in the rain. Have fun with the hammock.

Indeed, I was hanging about 2 inches off the ground, just in case.

Yeah, I should make a hammock stand or even better get out of the suburbs.

The tarp didn't look to be sagging much whilst I was inside, it held itself up from the ridge line while I was laying in it, but extra line is always handy to have, plenty of time for buying accessories!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Hennessy.

I would go slow on the mods until you have some time in the hammock. There are several suspension changes that can be tried by tieing a suspension ring close to the hammock body then experimenting from there instead of chopping things up. ;-)
    YMMV
