I'd suggest getting another hammock to use with the net. If you chop the net off, it's not a BB anymore You could get a nice hammock for a reasonable price (much cheaper than a blackbird).
If you ain't havin' fun, you're doin' it wrong

Removing the bug net from my WBBB...

All good suggestions. Been in convo with Brandon...taking the bug net off the BB is not recommended. May get a XTC to try out. Also now looking at the RR. Too many options. This weekend I'm going to put the BB and Traveler to some field testing before I do anything.

I don't own a blackbird so take this for what it's worth but if you take off the bugnet(even if it doesn't ruin the integrity of the hammock) you lose that shelf. Don't know how much you use the shelf so that may not be important to you.

Dude, you'll lose a lot if not all of resale value on that blackbird if you chop it up. You could sell both your hammocks and have more than enough to buy a new XLC or another brand of hammock. The XLC has been the best hammock I've laid in and its very versatile with its options of using a winter cover, bug netting, or no cover at all. Look into the XLC.
