Loved the video, and the write ups! I've got to make some time tonight to go through my video of the trip and put something together as well.

And I'm in the same situation as everyone else...trying to figure out where/how I can shed some weight out of my kit. I'm going to break down and get a scale to see what it really weighs, and give some serious thought to what I can drop.

I've got to note that the Permethrin stuff really works well. I'd treated my pants/overshirt last fall, and still didn't get one tick attached the whole time we were out there.

And I've also got to agree with the others...the core group of folks we've had come out to these trips are just an awesome bunch of guys. No drama, no stress, and we all work together well.

Looking forward to our next run!

Hoot - reason #3 was the water spigot between the trailhead and the campsite -- since we couldn't find the lake to replenish canteens from - just acres and acres of mud flats...

I sprayed my boots, hat, and pant legs with 2 year old Sawyer permethrin the night before the hike and had no issues with chiggers or ticks - don't know if the homemade bug repellant i was also using helped or not, but it didn't hurt.

Also - I was serious about the standing invite for anyone who wants to travel another 25 miles west to hang out in my back hayfield and test loadouts on the terrain around here.

I may take you up on the offer. I believe I got a lot of work ahead of me!

Great reports on the hang. I wish I could have made the trip since it is close. However, I have a health issue that prevented me from going. Maybe next trip.

    Count on it!!!

It was a great hang. I always learn something each and every time I go out into the woods, especially when with such a great bunch of HF folks.

Here is the link to some photos of this trip:

I was doing some online searches today and found 40 degree bags under 3 pounds and under $30 -- then stopped at ****'s Sporting goods on the way home and found a 40 degree kelty bag on clearance for $15 (down from $50) - and they offered to knock 10% off that because they lost the stuff sack.
