Exped UL7 Long Wide in Dangerbird 11' DL?

Ok, so the DB is my first plunge into a "real" camping hammock, and #401 is on its way to me soon. I have a ton of backpacking gear, will not be winter camping yet, but have a couple late May/Early June trips where the lows will be 60-70. Can I ease into this by using a 77 x 26 UL7, especially if I under-inflate it?

    Just some add'l specs.
This is a DL 11ft long hammock approx 67-68"ish wide.

I'm not familiar with that pad, but maybe somebody here has some experience with it.

I have been using Synmat 9 LW down to -15 F without a problem. But I used it while sleeping a in hefty sleeping bag. (9 has R-value 6.0 and 7 UL has R-value 3.1)

And I always use it fully or almost fully inflated. I do not know why others use it only 1/3-2/3 inflated between layers. I use it straight under me so I can adjust it when I'm on top of it. Adjusting is also harder if it is not inflated enough. And when fully inflated it also lessens the CSS (cold shoulder syndrome).

One problem I see in using Synmat in such a warm temperature is the perspiration management. Synmat does not breathe, so your back may get soaked with sweat.

It'll work, just not sure I'd want to carry it at 28.6 oz. You will need the 26" width, but the 77" height is probably more than you need. We don't know your height, so it's hard for us to know for sure. Even a under quilt will weigh a bit less.

Hmm...mine weighs 20.63ozs. It's easily 8 ounces less than my 20* HG Incubator. I am short but i like the 77" length. True, It is bit more than I need but I have no worries that me feet are going to get cold. I tried the two pad thing and never worked we'll for me. I tried every length of pad until I settled in the LW, mostly for the width. Everything is a trade off I guess but for 20 ounces it's not a bad.

My UL7 LW is 25oz, downmat, not syn.

    -11 rating and lighter than most 0* full-length UQ's.

LOVE Exped mats. If you gotta go to ground, that's the only way I'd want to do it.

    Thanks

Thanks for the info. I will eventually get an UQ, but doing some near term trips where weight is not as critical. Do folks who have a DL put the pad in between the layers for convenience and to help prevent shifting?

I'm 6'3" and a restless sleeper, so the size and comfort of the Exped have made it my go to mat for ground dwelling. It's as comfortable as a bed, in my book. A great piece of kit.
