Been awhile since I posted anything here, so I decided to show my 11 ft long Hennessy clone that I started. I have to put on the side pulls and sew the NoSeeUm on (along with a zipper) and it will be done.
I made this from materials ordered from Scott at DIY Gear Supply. Here's the list: 4 yds 2.8 plain weave nylon, 16 ft of 1" strap, 2 pairs of suspension rings, 21 ft of 7/64 amsteel for the ridgeline and continuous loops for the suspension, 4 yds NoSeeUm, 2 ft nylon webbing for the side pull outs. With shipping it was right at $60.00.
Why use such heavy material? I like the way this stuff feels and no worries about the weight.
I sewed loops on the straps and 8 ft per side is plenty combined with the length of the amsteel continuous loop.
So far it feels good, though I may lengthen the ridgeline a bit (it's 85%). Nice flat lay and tons of room above my head and below my feet.
As I get time this weekend, I will finish it and post more pics and the total weight of the thing.
