    My 11FT Hennessy Clone

Been awhile since I posted anything here, so I decided to show my 11 ft long Hennessy clone that I started. I have to put on the side pulls and sew the NoSeeUm on (along with a zipper) and it will be done.

I made this from materials ordered from Scott at DIY Gear Supply. Here's the list: 4 yds 2.8 plain weave nylon, 16 ft of 1" strap, 2 pairs of suspension rings, 21 ft of 7/64 amsteel for the ridgeline and continuous loops for the suspension, 4 yds NoSeeUm, 2 ft nylon webbing for the side pull outs. With shipping it was right at $60.00.

Why use such heavy material? I like the way this stuff feels and no worries about the weight.

I sewed loops on the straps and 8 ft per side is plenty combined with the length of the amsteel continuous loop.

So far it feels good, though I may lengthen the ridgeline a bit (it's 85%). Nice flat lay and tons of room above my head and below my feet.

As I get time this weekend, I will finish it and post more pics and the total weight of the thing.

I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

That thing ought to hold just about anything you can put in it Looks nice. Why such a long ridgeline? Is that just the way you like it? I'm just curious because I've read that most people like about 83% and you are at 85% and want to go longer.

Thanks Caveman. I usually tinker with the ridgeline length just to see what it does to the over all lay. This is my first 11 footer and want it to be juuuuust right. I love this fabric - soft enough with just a bit of grabbiness (if thats a word) so it's not slippery.

No, your not wrong, I haven't added the side pull outs yet. That's what gives it an asym lay. I also haven't tweaked the ridge line yet either. I literally just got in the hammock when I snapped the picture.

More pics tomorrow, children. Good night!
