    HH UL backpacker

Anyone else 190lbs having trouble with the rope fusing using taut lines or half hitches? I set mine up in my backyard and passed out for a couple of hours when I first received and when I woke up and tried to take it down the knots had generated enough friction to melt the rope at the knot. I also have a Scout and it has larger rope and I have no trouble out of it.

I simply cut the rope and am now using ring buckles and webbing with the UL which isnt so UL with 4 steel rings. Just curious, so far thats all I am unhappy with about the UL backpacker.

Dude, run down to the new REI where you live and buy some aluminum descending rings made by SMC, you'll find them in the climbing section.

Do a search here for cinch buckles, many use those with webbing.

There are a variety of methods to suspend your hammock besides the hennessy lash.

Mine too! I was just down there at lunch. I asked the guy when they were going to get more in, as I had been looking everytime I'm in there, and he just said "How many do you want? I can order them and have them here on Monday; no extra charge." Very nice.
    Trust nobody!

Ya mine doesn't carry descending rings that are smaller than like 1" thick....way to thick to really be worth it....my national hardware rings due me just fine at 140 lbs.

Bought the last 4 at the REI in Kennesaw last week, was there again today and they had em back in stock. The thicker descending alum ring compared to the steel rings from the big orange release alot easier fyi. Best mod yet Ive done.

I bought like 5 rap rings at the REI buford (for climbing, not hammocking) like a month ago, and haven't seen them back in stock since.

I also cleaned out the Atlanta and Perimeter locations on other trips
