    Baby Bridge Hammock

Looking to make a Baby sized Bridge Hammock and insulation for when my daughter gets to be about 1 1/2 for car camping. Anyone done it or thought about doing it? Thorwren and any other moms on the site, any dangers to having a baby in a hammock?

Thinking end caps on the hammock with super strength Bug netting and some sort of tie out system so that she couldn't flip herself. Even if she did though I want the Bugnetting to be strong enough to hold her. Thinking of hanging her over me at my feet. So her head would be to my feet that way when and if she cries during the night I just have to sit up and tend to her.

    baby hammocks

Not sure about a bridge hammock but we have had our kids sleep in them...even the 2 year old. Of course this has all been at home. I think the trick is putting them over something that is soft enough that they can not get hurt IF they do fall out.

I found this picture on the web and thought it was pretty cool.

I think you have the right idea though with the bug net and keeping her close to you.

P.S. This looks like it could be my kid with the red hair and all. What a cutie, but definitely not mine...

Ok so we aren't the only ones thinking about putting our kids in hammocks good to know. I like that idea, but the whole falling out thing would freak the little woman out. Thats why I'm thinking miniature version of the BMBH. I'd probably use ripstop to cover the bottom half and then use doubled over bugnetting for the top with a YKK zipper.

Sounds like you've got sensible ideas. Stormcrow's right, at home, our kids slept in hammocks above their own beds or pillows all around. Our 2 year old gets in and out of the big hammock like it's second nature, and it's kind of hard for him to fall out with the high sides. He'd have to really try. We'd appreciate pics of your finished product when you are done. Our 10 month old needs one!
