    DIY Taslite Hammock

Yea I know this has been beat to death. But wanted to post my results.....
I needed a loaner for an up coming event. So off to WallyWorld I went
and picked up some more Taslite nylon (digital camo)
and with the newly acquired thread injector I started welding up a hammock.

    Sewed end

    Free hanging

With my son acting like a banana

Added an attached stuff sack and packed it up.

This is not rip-stop so I'm not sure of weight limits but I'm 200lb and it held me so this will
be fine for the 95lb kid who will be using it.
    Thanks for reading.

That looks like some heavy duty stuff. What's it weigh?

Not sure as I don't have a scale. I will borrow one from a friend later today (if he's home).

That looks very nice. I've been contemplating purchasing some of that fabric for a similar project.

I've made both a hammock and a storm bug net out of the taselite. Can't go wrong for $2/yd. Pretty nice stuff to work with. Made the hammock for one of the grand kid's friends who's about 6'2" and heading toward 200# this summer in a football weight training program. No fat on him either.

I got some of that taslite a few months ago and made a 11 ft double layer with it. Holds my 280 lbs just fine. Don't have enough material left to make another. Went back to wallyworld to get some more and they had sold out. Weighs in at 2.2 lbs with Whoopies and adjustable ridgeline

I have a ripstop 1.0 double that I made that is the same size and weighs in at 1 lb with Whoopies and adjustable ridgeline. If you are a gram wennie then taslite is not the material to use.

I too made a double layer for me and a single layer for my kid out of the same stuff. Both I have been laying in testing to see if it will rip. No hospital visit yet, still hanging.

I also bought some when our Wally-World had it on sale, but after some debate decided to make a tarp out of it. Very satisfied--- I did my own sil coating, and this material took it very well. 100% water proof. In fact, just had it out today and I love it.
Agreed, it's not for gram-weenies, but at $2/ yd or less, how can you go wrong?!?

I like that storm bug net quite a bit. Sort of a combo sock/bug net ?
