    I didn't have to re-invent the wheel!

can't remember how i stumbled into this forum, or when it was

all i know, now, is how much it has done for me, personally and shared

i ride motorcycles with a group from another forum that camps and several of those campers hang

the fascination with hanging had been on the back burner for quite a while and i was just a bit intimidated with the prospect of pulling the trigger on a system

being able to get up close to hammocks, in use, brought the concept to the front burner

the folks i quizzed about their gear were more into the packed size issues than weight and were quite satisfied with the REST their hammocks provided

over the period of a year or so, i studied manufacturers, styles, sizes, capacities, materials...... & so on & so on & so on......

the amount of information, OUT THERE, was overwhelming

THIS FORUM has ordered a huge amount of the information overload and helped me get my sights aligned and finally pull the trigger

the members who contribute their experiences, pro & con, and specially with pics & videos have made the whole experience delightful, rather than daunting

my system is evolving and i am looking forward to my 2nd night in it

    with all that said.....

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU, who went before me & kept me from having to RE-INVENT THE WHEEL

Great journey and you're right about the site; I had no clues about hammocks just over a year ago; wanted to backpack but needed to go lightweight and I stumbled on this site as well.

I ride as well and think the two passions are perfect together! Drive save and good character to give thanks!

A lot of people are thankful but thankfulness is only worth something when you know to whom you're thankful....if that makes sense.

That's what got me into hammocking. Pack size more than weight. Had most of my hanging gear into a Wolfman E-10 pack. I'm off the bikes for a while, so have gone to pack size and lighter weights as concerns.
