Do you smoke cigarettes in your hammock?

It doesn't and wouldn't bother me either way.

Most of the trips I come back from has my kit reeking of smoke from the fire anyway. A fire will always smoke more than I ever can.

.....until I opened the box and the cigarette tars reek hit me, and I closed and sealed the box back up. Seller hadn't explained the cause of that hole -- not tear --and I hadn't though to ask. Duhhh. (Location? Lay on back, bend left arm at elbow sharply and swing forearm with "thumb" to the outward, to the left. <smile>)

Three thorough washings --hot water with quality laundry detergent on two, and pine-oil soap on another, of both tarp and hammock, and then a few days of air, and it smelled clean. (I suspect netting captures and hold a lot of aroma, especially if you are smoking inside of it.)

I didn't complain to seller about the condition, because he, as a smoker, probably camped with other smokers.

You shouldn't have to ask how the hole was created if the seller knew how it happened. Seller should have disclosed that they smoked.

I smoke,,but not in the hammock as I know I burn holes in everything I own,,but not my hammock. Or my quilts. Bad enough on shirts, pants, jackets vests, car, I guess you name it. But,,not my hammock or quilts..nope!

I'm not a habitual smoker but I do enjoy my pipe some evenings. I don't see a problem with it as long as you're careful

I don't smoke and I don't like smelling smoke (as a child I suffered from asthma attacks), but I'd buy a hammock from a smoker because washings would eventually cure it. Soak it in a bucket of suds for half a day, agitate it around every time you thought about it, rinse well and hang dry and leave out in the yard for a day or two... Were I a smoker I'd wash the hammock a time or three before selling it, though. That said, my hammock has smelled like a campfire many times and while it's not the same, it is smoke.

I do enjoy an occaisional pipe, but I can't recall ever smoking one in the hammock. Usually it's a before bed watching the sun go down and making an offering ritual (not to mention keeping the mosquitoes at bay for a bit) before crawling into the hammock and the mosquito free bug net.
