    New back packer/hanger

Hello and how are you? I'm a long time camper but new to the backpacking and hanging scene. I'm hoping to learn as much as I can from the experienced people here on the net and locals I've met recently. I don't have a hammock yet, but I'm looking to find what suits me. As well, I don't have the greatest pack, but it works for now.
Oh yeah, I'm currently living in the Greenville, SC area and have hiked Ceasar's head and Koewee toxaway, as well as biked around on Paris mountain. Hope to chat or see you all around soon. Thanks.

Welcome from hot and humid guam. Glad your getting into the backpacking scene. I am unable to do that here at the time being.

You said you didn't have a hammock yet. I just picked this one up because I was curious. This makes 5 hammocks for me but I bet it would work as a great starter. I slept in it a couple nights and it works great. I just added some modifications to it (added whoopie slings and a ridge line) and it is a really nice little hang for the price.

Great find TrailArchitect!! I wish I would have seen this before I bought my Wally World special.

May have to get this for my wife. She is now thinking about hanging with me after the many positive points to my first hang this past weekend at Ellicot Rock in good ole SC.

Oh and welcome to HF Ronin! Oooo great movie!

Thanks for the warm welcomes. And thanks TrailArchitect, I might have to check that hammock out, especially if my local REI has it.

I will definitely be checking out the foothills trail.

    Welcome to HF from Oregon!

My wife and I started out with a set of these:

Slightly more costly than the one TrailArchitect linked to, but it has a built in bug net (and with as wet as it gets up here, we get eaten if we don't have one).
