Just got the email on this .

First, try the item number I list below to see if you get the sale price. It is different from the regular item number.

If that does not work, you might need to go to the Bargain Outfitters website and sign up for email notifications of sales etc to get this price.
Otherwise it will show up as $39.99.

    Description is:

Does anyone know the difference between this polyester and other expensive tarps that are nylon? Weight? JRB tarp is 19oz. and another thread lists this as 23oz. Any thoughts?

These are good tarps for the money. They pretty much land right smack in between the heavier blue or green Walmart or Harbor Freight tarps, and the higher end and lighter Silnylon offerings, concerning weight, workmanship, etc.

An entire thread was dedicated to Gear Guide's last round of tarps. Many did not get what they wanted or at least expected, but most were happy with what they paid for what they got.

If that doesn't make sense, search the thread. Seems like demensions and waterproofing were issues, in conflict with the advertised specs. These may certainly have been resolved this time around.

Either way, most if not all felt they got a great deal on a starter or extra tarp, even those needing to seal a seam or two, seemed satisfied. This does seem to be a great price, and suppliers do seem to run out of them pretty quickly each season.

Would you all recommend this shelter or the GG tarp listed here? The only difference I see is one is nylon and one is poly? http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/c...aspx?a=1148204

    Here's one unhappy camper:

    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=70111

From the photos I've seen, it's the same quality (poor) as the Guide Gear 12x12 from 2012. I wouldn't count on it to keep me dry.

Then again, you'll find plenty of people who think it's a great tarp.

Thanks SS. That's the link I was referring to.

Hard to beat quality weather coverage. It's like paying a few bucks more for a good saddle......you'll ride all day on those bucks
