Great trip report! It makes me wonder if my mom would be willing to get out on the trail too haha.

My mom was actually in the best shape of us all! Recently empty nested and its just her and her puppy so she hikes out in the woods a lot by herself. Taking the next step as some girls time wasn't much of a jump. All you can do is ask, and offer support. I think more moms need to be on the trail!

They certainly do! It took us 3 hours to leave camp the last morning because there wasn't a guy telling us we couldn't have one more cup of tea/coffee! We had a blast. I highly recommend a girls only trip for all the ladies out there! And if you're in my area, I'd love to tag along.

First, he thinks he's a lap dog. At 55lbs, he's not really, but I can let him get away with thinking it. When he gets cold, he puts his chin on the esge of the hammock near my face, whines and shivers and waits for me to lift the top quilt then its one foot at a time until he is cuddles up in a ball by my side. I think he's a bit spoiled at this point and thinks that he belongs in there..

Go for it! Moms are tougher than they look, but they are all different. Take her on a great day hike and show her what's out there. You might be surprised. Plus, mom's like to be taken care of, and what a better way than to tuck her into her hammock.

Thanks for the trip report and pictures! (not many people can say their mom has a WBBB and goes backpacking on the AT---pretty cool!)
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.
