Considering that it is warming up outside, you should consider getting one with a bug net or check out how to make a "hug net." I have a GTUL and a table cloth hammock and I'm in the process of making a hug net out bug netting from Wally world.

Drive up to the Smoked Butt Hang for the day this weekend or stay overnight if you've got a hammock. You will be swamped by people wanting to show you their rigs, people are super nice at these hangs. It will fast forward your research and decision making process a hundred fold. You can try everything out!! And you'll have some killer NC BBQ

If you can't go this weekend, there is the goat island hang soon-in SC

If you are considering write-in candidates, the Wilderness Logics Snipe may be worth a look too:

Definitely considering write-ins, although the price point on that Snipe seems a little steep compared to others.

In looking at the BIAS, I like what they offer. Anyone have specific suggestions? The WWM looks nice. I guess I should mention, I'd like something light weight.

Please don't take this as a contemptuous reply but most vendors will list the weight of their shelter as well as the max height and weight of the user. I recommend you look around and find something that fits your criteria the best and order it. I have recommended my Hennessy to someone before who had almost the exact same build as me and slept the same way and he ended up not being able to fall asleep in it. There is no way someone can know what will work best for you and what you will end up liking or not liking. Trial and error is the only way. Go to a group hang or do alittle shopping around and order something that looks like it will work.

Hammocks are like backpacks, they all fit us differently. That is why there is so many choices out there. You just don't know until you try one on.

Thanks XTrekker, I can appreciate your words. I must say, I am not looking for someone to tell me product X is my best choice, just looking for some opinions.

am just a couple steps ahead of you, in the hanging sport

i had been researching, as you are, for a while...

then at my 3rd event where folks were hanging, while i was still ground based, i was visiting w/ a guy(folks are always eager to share their experiences/feelings) who is about my size & weight who was interested in changing his gear

his hammock met the criteria i had set, except for new price

new, his hammock was 2x the amount i had to play

his hammock was complete & in good useable condition

when i ponied up w/ an offer that comfortably met my pocketbook's ability, i found myself in the game

just saying, there are several ways to play

so don't limit your research by $$ alone

the previous posters who suggested visiting a hanging event are RIGHT ON

you might even rob the piggy bank & take what available funds you can scrape up

the elimination of having to buy something you've never seen or tried out, a/o advertising something for sale & then deal w/ shipping, combine into a much more comfortable selling/purchasing situation

the chance to get an entry level system, that has already been farkled to some extent, may present itself to you, in a comfortable atmosphere

pardon my rambling, just trying to present more options & strategies

    good luck w/ your quest
