Looks like fun. Could be nice for the family, especially when hung at a height for the rope ladder. This kid thinks it would be fun.

incredible amounts of tension....did he say 5 ton straps, and those ratchet straps...hmmm.
I've hung off many a young flexible 6inchish diameter tree. Not saying these are going to pull down a tree but I'd want an arborist to do an inspection before cranking down those straps.
Speaking of, maybe a thread on what we think are the safest trees.....fat,skinny, smooth bark, rough; young, old, pine, oak, etc.

While I am an arborist I am not fully studied in the pressures certain trees can handle. My best guess though is that with three full adults and with as much pressure as those Ratchet straps can provide they will leave a mark. Especially in the growing season of early spring to early summer when the bark loosens up to grow. I have had bark peel off just by me standing in a branch during those times.

I think it's a neat idea. I would probably never buy one though.
The guy mentions in the video that you can't stay in a hammock for more than a couple hours before you get cold or wet. I guess he isn't a member here. Two weekends ago I slept for 11 hours in my hammock.

He doesnt know much about hammock camping but its a cool idea. I saw something similar to this last year. That was a project to setup and took quite a few people. I could see this be used as a potentially "cheap" seasonal play area/chill out place in the back yard. Big backyard.

I kind of feel like with the amount of weight, work, set up involved you might as well just tow a pop up camper .

I think this would be great for couples. Especially on group hangs or car camping type situations. The one thing my wife and I miss about being ground dwellers is not being to snuggle up in the tent, or play cards, or just generally be together in the tent together. Granted we would never take this on a long hike, but for other situations this would be ideal.

However the BIGGEST issue is the price thats the deal breaker, and one hell of an expensive hammock.
I miss my 4.8Lb base weight as a ground dweller...But I sure DON'T MISS the ground.
