haha well i guess it is a loaded question haha truthfully this is my first build and i have never laid in nylon hammock so im flying blind and winging it its a project i thought would be cool and i wanted to build my own rather than buy one far as friends or group hangs not really an option my boy is in cub scouts and i know i don't like sleeping on the ground and have always loved hammocks and im 6 foot tall around 230 pounds haven't thought about a foot box haha

Black on Black DIY hammock with no-see-um netting

I'd suggest putting together your suspension first. Practice splicing and make some whoopies.

Then grab your ripstop, and whip up, say, about 12 feet, and try it out. Don't cut or sew anything during the testing phase. Then rewhip at 11 feet and 10. I'm pretty big, and I like a 10-foot hammock just fine, but you have the stuff so why not try it out.

Once you get your dimensions down you can choose between the two hammocks in the stickies, check the plans on DIY Gear Supply, and other sources. Above all have fun!

Remember you can strip the inside out of the paracord and still have enough strength for the whipping...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

Too many variables. I can tell you that my recent build is 10ft with 60"wide with side pulls and integrated bug net and 100" ridgeline. I'm 6'1" 240lbs and can sleep on my side with a left or right lay - it's a very flat lay both ways.

This is mine - pictures of the hammock at the bottom.

I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

I made my whoopie slings just like yours - except I used white beads instead of stars - "sniff".

I used 7/64amsteel to make an adjustable ridgeline - I left it at 100" for the guy who's going to use it. I set it up for me to test it, so he's on his own. If you need better pictures, let me know - I have dozens!
