I'm new to the forums and hammock camping but I'd be interested in joining the outing. Wouldn't mind some overall info on the area (Never been to Woodridge), and what maybe to expect.
Here is an excellent blog by a hammock forum member about the area.

Let's do it!

You can also do a google search on the site (Woodridge Public Use Area, or Woodridge Primitive Use Area) and pull up some good info. Definitely use google maps to find your way...it's easy to think you're on the wrong path right up until you find it!
And you'd definitely be welcome to join and come out! The crew of folks we've had come out to the KC area hangs have been some awesome peeps!
Unless it gets uber hot by then, I'll be sporting my new down underquilt, my lazy slug tubes, and probably some dutch gear on the tarp as well. I plan on getting my fishing license by then, and hoping to do some fishing and eating of said fish on this run.
I'd like to hike a bit in and camp somewhere down near the lake...I was thinking about setting up in the general area I camped at last year (pretty wide open space where a dried creek bed runs down to the lake)...should be safe unless we're expecting rain. Not sure yet if any of my non-hanging sons or my wife might wanna come out on this one yet. Will know more as we get closer.
Coming:
Owl
Radiohead
Trailboss
Hoot
Ramenshamen
Skygzr
Otter
Dudorino
Anyone else?
Off topic, but wanted to add this for the KC folks who know him...
Got a letter from Weasel today. He's 3/4ths of the way through Basic training now, and did his second FTX (Field training exercise) last week when we had all that nasty cold rain/freezing rain.
Yep, they still sleep in the shelter halves, which have gotten no more water proof than they used to be.
He managed...he's found that road marches are just backpacking with a bunch of other guys...he's got that down!
But he told me in his letter to let you folks know...he **** sure missed his hammock on that trip! Told his battle-buddy that was sharing the shelter with him that he'd have been a lot drier and more comfy for darned sure! LOL!
Looking forward to having him back with us in September.
Thanks Owl, glad he's doing ok. Too bad he could'nt have smuggled in a camo Traveler. Taught them a thing or two.
fwiw
If I'm in town I'll be out, but thats iffy at the moment.
Oh, Yes of course I am coming.
I'll wear clothes this time and take my medicine before rolling up on my speeder.
Will there be chanting around the camp fire this time? Last time kind of scared me into the new religion, since then I have followed the force and learned to speak Wookie.
I hope we have new victims at this hang. Conversion should go smoothly.
You know...we got enough 'new' folks coming that I'm wondering if we should just go ahead and plan on camping at/nearer to the trailhead, rather than down by the lakefront like I was thinking?
Easier to find each other that way. We might even consider taking that spot just down the northern leg of the trail with the pine tree entrance...it's open enough for a good number of folks, but not that far away from the trailhead conveniences.
We could use that fire ring as our 'gather spot', and just 'hang' wherever we like.
I very well may have momma out with me on this one, and/or two of my sons as well.
Oh...and Vicky (Skygzr's wife) is 'Otter'...she was dubbed at her first hang with us!
And please, Hoot...do wear clothes this time. Assimilation of the natives goes so much more smoothly when they're not traumatized and in need of therapy!
