Read Derek's UH book, and I have a noob question about tree straps with a tarp - to wit - does anyone use straps or just run the tarp line around the tree?
I would think it would still damage the cambrium?

I brought this question up before and got some good responses : https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=65350
I am still interested in what others have to say on this as well and Thank You for getting my gears thinking again on this subject
Apologies for double post - I searched, but the terminology was different. Thanks WK2!

No apologies needed as I had forgotten totally about that thread until you jogged my mind last night. I hope that I didn't come off as rude in my response and I want to apologize if I did.
No, not at all rude! I was sorry I didn't find the post! the search function only works if you use the exact terms.
Hope to hang with you one day! Thanks for your service and for being involved in Scouting, both are near and dear to me.

You 2 remind me of Chip and Dale Chipmunks....In a good way of course.
I use straps for my tarp. Not because it saves the trees( I have seen many trees with much more damage than we could put on them, trees growing around fences, chains and a bike in a tree imbedded and a tree growing around a tree stand), but to the park rangers, it soothes their minds if they are not knowledgeable and I like to err on the caution side to ease the powers that be.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
LOL! Well I get to be Chip then!

cv66seabear,
Anytime and Thank You as well , I used to get up to Chi-town twice a year but HH6 has shut that down for me but we will see. I have a few friends that live behind the cheddar curtain in Sheboygan as well and they are great folks to hang out with. I miss getting up that way.
