    Getting Comfortable in a Hammock

So for the most part I'm AOK while sleeping in a hammock, but here recently I have been getting heal numbness while I sleep. It wakes me up actually. So I'm at the correct angle that lets me fall asleep like a baby but while the heals are sitting on the hammock they receive too much pressure, I'm guessing. Does any one suffer from this??? Tips on this heal pressure deal would be most appreciated.

    Thanks
    TCW

I used to get that once in a while but switching to a Thermarest sit-pad lightly inflated in the footbox of my TQ took care of that problem.

I've had this since I started hanging. It seems like calf ridge gets more discussion, but heel pressure has always been the problem for me. However, I have been able to get rid of most of it by doing the following:

    - Raise the foot end of my hammock - I do about 9 to 12 inches.

    - Adjust my position and angle in the hammock.

    - Use a bigger hammock - my 11'x6' DangerBird seems to cause less heel pressure than my 10'x5'7" Kammock.

    - I tried putting something soft under my ankles, but that didn't work to well - it made my knees uncomfortable. It might work for you, though.

I would like to hear how other people have dealt with this.

I have had similar issues. The blue closed cell foam foot pad was two rigid and I noticed that my heals would start to hurt I the middle of the night. I have switched to a reflectix foot pad and that is much better for me.

I greatly reduced the amount of heel pressure I was experiencing by making a longer hammock and using a fleece blanked bunched up under my knees. I went from a 9 foot hammock to an 11 footer. the 11 footer I made is a double layer one and I have not tried it out with my CCF blue pad yet but that is why I made a DL. Interesting to see how it feels then.
Try switching up your lay angles, the length of your ridge line if you have one, and the angles of your dangle...I mean the angle of your hammock hang. That sounded dirty, sorry.

Though I still like my smaller hammocks I found many of my issues were lessened considerably. When moving to larger hammocks like my 11'n

I suspect that putting something under your knees would relieve the weight of your legs going to your heels.
