I went with OMW. Already had a Snipe so I knew WL makes great gear...plus the Extra side tieout seemed smarter as I see a lot of sideways rain and wind here on the coast. Haven't regretted it.

Re: Superfly Vs. Old Man Winter

I went against the old man winter... And it broke down to mainly the middle tie out requiring more stakes... And the popularity of the Superfly... Seemed like two good reasons to me...

Both great tarps. I love my superfly, but I love my Wilderness Logics tarp as well.

You can't go wrong with either tarp.

I started out with a SF and I was happy with it until I tried the OMW.
While both have pull outs, I found that the middle tie out adds strength against the wind
and allows the windward side to be tied close to the ground more securely and prevents flapping.
The center tie out helps snow buildup have a tighter surface to slide down and off of the tarp.
I have used the tarp without using the center tie out and had no problem at all.

I had been reading many of the tarp threads and noticed that there where several members
who had done a center pole mod that appealed to me so I had WL do that mod for me.
Also, I couldn't decide between green and brown so I had WL make mine half-n-half.

The bottom line is, for me, the Oldman Winter is a great "do it all" tarp.

I was looking at both of those tarps as well. I have gear from each company with no complaints. I bought the OMW because I could add the pole mod for $10 during that Xmas sale. I bet the postage to the company that does the after market mod would be more than that.

good luck with your decision that cannot wrong either way.

    Yes, it is cool.

I really like my Super Fly. I am hanging under it again tonight, this time with it pulled out on both sides. I like the room it adds, allows for cooking and a small lantern at night. I have no experience with the OMW, so I can't really compare the two.

Never mind the girly guy lines, all they had at H.D. was pink mason line, would prefer green or even orange. It will do for now.
