I'd say find a nice quiet spot off trail and practice the LNT techniques. Actually, I absolutely refuse to camp at a designated site and even avoid state parks as much as possible. Too much traffic, usually trash all over, beaten down muddy earth, people deficating all over the place. Not for me.

Of course you can have small fire. The fire rings apply for established sites only

I feel the same way i hate camping in the designated spots. I just wamted to make sure we could have a reasonable fire outside the designated area some of our crew does not have the best gear for the cold.

I wish the weather would make up its mind. Now its 50% chance of rain on friday. I too am in a mixed hang, tent group that likes to have a fire. One of the guys is even willing to pack in some dry kindling.

As one who spends a whole lot of time each year in those woods, packing in kindling is just silliness. If you can't get a fire going in that area, you should probably reconsider having a fire. Have fun, it is a beautiful area.

NCT and MRT achieved and man was it a nice weekend for hiking. Tons of people out Saturday. If you are in the area of the NCT check out Pole "road." Man that was an adventure. Did the whole MRT on Saturday and went back over the bridge to NCT to camp again. Awesome spot on a bend in the river. Pack weight must go down!

The weather was great. We had a blast my 65 year old dad came with my twp brothers and some friends and did a great job... First weekend out with my war bonnet blackbird xlc, my ula airx and underquilt by hammock gear and top revelation x top quilt. I was very happy with all purchases and highly recommend each company to do business with. The ula pack was awesome.

I did get cold shoulders with my underquilt while shifting in the blackbird gotta figure out how to fix that.
