He was a gentle grump, for those who know what I mean. He was my biggest cheerleader, and had faith in everything I did. His family was his life, and my sister and I were his girls. We had a special bond, of like minds, and the love of fishing. He adored his grandchildren. I have yet to breathe... I feel orphaned....Nothing else seems to matter, except holding my own family as tight as I possibly can.

Stormcrow was home at 4AM, and I've held on to him ever since. Fin is staying here, he's such a source of comfort, a quiet, understanding presence from losing his own father 2 years ago. The thru-hike is indefinitely suspended.... But understand, the following and the encouragement we received from endless stream of HF family and friends was inspirational and motivating, to say the least. Thank you from the bottom of my heart....

Jen, my heart and prayers go out to you. May God wrap his arms around you and your family and comfort you in this time of sorrow. Prayers also for healing of Adam's ankle.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

    Jen, Adam and family

I will be brief; too many thoughts run through my head with this news.

Adam's 'incident' on the AT was necessary. This is the trail your family needs to walk, together, for now.

It is a very hard trail to 'hike'. Know that several things will be your blazes in this time; most importantly, each other and those around you, like Fin.

As well as your memories of your father.

I keep you all in my thoughts and know that time will heal all these hurts, physical and heart-felt.

    With love and respect,

    Robert.

Jen, So sorry to hear about your father. I sympathize with you, I lost both of my parents in the last couple of years. It is hard enough when you expect it and have time to prepare but when it's sudden and no one expects it that makes it even tougher I'm sure. I will keep you guys in my prayers. If there's anything more I can do please let me know. Our HF family thinks the world of you and Adam and your family.

Jenny and Adam, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. When you said gentle grump I knew immediately what you meant. Thats me all over. You guys are good people for sure and I hope your pain is short lived. My daughters mean the world to me and I hope when I go they can replace any sadness with memories of the special moments.
