    I'm finally joining the masses...

...and will be ordering an underquilt today.

I've been using the HHSS under my Explorer Deluxe with some great success so far, but I figured I'd give this "downy goodness" a try.

Since my wife has expressed a willingness to try a hammock, I want to make sure I've got something that will keep her warm in her hammock when she goes out with me...and/or something I can use as well.

So...going with the only possible brand I could..."Outdoor Wilderness Logics (Owl)" of course!

Gonna get their full length UQ with a few extra ounces of down to make sure I'm good down to the 10s or maybe even single digits.

Then I'll start saving up money for a TQ to match...and ditch the sleeping bag...maybe!

Awesome. You won't regret that purchase. WL makes great gear. What color did you go with?

Went with the brown...talking with Marty (?) it sounded like it's a pretty good match with the color of the HHED already.

This has been a while in the consideration phase, since in all honesty I've had great results with the HHSS.

The HHSS itself is probably in the same weight category, and frankly works well for me.

But, I need to have something that I can put on Momma's hammock when she goes out with me...and if I end up going UQ/TQ, it should be a decent weight savings for me.

Got my UQ in this past Saturday. Some seriously gorgeous work! Color is a great match for the HHED, and this thing fits beautifully, covering from just over the top of my head to just below my toes...so I'm not the least bit concerned about moving around and finding myself with an uninsulated spot.

Kinda cool too that I was able to just hook the shock cord ends up straight to the mitten hooks for the HHSS and snug up the ends so they closed, and it was a perfect fit from there.

Threw on the lazy slug tubes to see how that works...with my spring/summer/fall top insulation of a fleece sleeping bag liner and woobie, the whole thing compressed down to take up less than 1/3rd of my Osprey 68's space. Plenty of room for cook kit/clothes/food/water.

Thinking I'm gonna like this purchase! Now to save for that matching top quilt...donations accepted!
