Welcome, and you are in the perfect area for your first hangs over at Pinckney Recreation Area. Hit Crooked Lake rustic campground for plenty of sites with great hanging trees. Great place to test out your gear... Bush

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I'll check out the trip planning thread for sure. I have a good friend who'd probably love to go, too.

I haven't spent much time at Pinckney Rec but this year I plan to check it out; I live five minutes from Brighton Rec so I usually end up over there trail hiking or at the lake with the spawn.

I've lived in MI for about 10 years and have never been up north. This year I hope to change that. =)

Yep, Same here. I was a tent camper most of my life before I found hammocks. It's been a wonderful change and you'll love it along with the wonderful folks here. Good luck with your first hang and our motto here is...pics or it didn't happen!
