    Konichiwa from Japan

Hello all!! I'm a new hanger, currently living in Yokosuka, Japan while stationed aboard The USS George Washington. I'm originally from Central California and grew up backpacking with my dad. An interest in lightweight backpacking led into hammocking and this forum. I'm eagerly awaiting the delivery or my first hammock, a Bias Camper. I looked into DIY for a while, but decided to get a pre-made one for my first. Looking forward to some relaxing afternoons on the beaches of the exotic locations we visit!

My name is one of my nicknames on the ship, but is the most PG of them.

Welcome aloft from SC and a retired Army SFC. Now you'll be looking for places on the ship to hang a hammock. Thank you for your service...

Welcome, waiting to some pics of your hammock rigged up over the bow in some form or fashion.

    W...elcome and

Ohio Gozaimasu! -or, should it be Konbanwa, given the time difference...?

    Anyway, glad to have you.

    Welcome to the forum!

If you do have some time off the ship, do try and head off into the mountains, you're not too too far from some really great places. Kamikochi in Nagano prefecture has some great hiking and views and is just a couple hours (3?) from Tokyo by shinkansen, local train and bus...

Welcome! I served on USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71, another Nimitz class carrier. One of my favorite places to hike and camp in Japan, is Kamikōchi, located in the Japanese Alps.
