Blue Screws - the answer to portable hammock stand anchoring

Hi all. I just came across this little ripper of an item for anchoring anything in soft soil. I have been developing a portable hammock stand in case I find myself in a spot where there are no trees to hang from. I set up a system with some tent poles I had, but I had to use 3 tent pegs per guy to anchor it in my lawn. But these 'Blue Screws' look like the answer, particularly in soft soil or sand. Check out the video link. I've ordered some online today to check them out.

I rang the company, and they tell me that the small version will hold 100kg in sand! I guess it depends on the softness of the sand but 4 holding up a hammock should be enough in anything I would think.

Anyway, I'll post my findings when they arrive and I test them out.

They look interesting, I have been using dog screws, where the spiral goes the whole length, these prove that's not needed!

I like the look of these. Lots of sand here in Florida. I have not seen anything like this in the US.

These are available in the U.S., just saw them this weekend at Dicks Sporting Goods.

They are near the beach umbrella section.

Blue screws are also used for fishing poles while surf fishing.

They are available in different sizes and there are several versions including a hollow type to accept a pole after installation.

    Also check ebay.

I hope someone tries these with hammock suspension, and also posts the weight of each. This could be a good thing for treeless hammock hanging.

similar to the metal ones used in the MOBILE HOME/PRE-MANUFACTURED HOUSING industry

they're what are used to hold mobile homes down, in tornado/hurricane prone environments

these plastic BLUESCREWS look to be mighty handy for playing in the sand

& would weigh less than the metal ones

    thx for the post
