Will a continuous 7/64 amsteel loop work as a prussic on zing-it/lash-it or will it slip?
Will a continuous 7/64 amsteel loop work as a prussic on zing-it/lash-it or will it slip?
Typically, the prussic cord should be a smaller diameter than the cord it is wrapping around. If it does slip then try additional loops of the prussic, but that still may not work.
My guess is that it won't hold, and will slip.
Are you wanting to use it just because you have some spare amsteel laying around? Are you wanting to use the prussik to hold the tarp onto your ridgeline?
If your tarp has tieouts instead of grommets, its quite easy to use a stick instead of a prussik. Just loop the ridgeline through the tieout, and use a small stick to keep it from going back through the loop. Once the ridgeline is tensioned, it stays in place very well, and also still allows you to move the tarp if needed.
Good luck finding something that works for you .
