I do one of two things, either find something to put my feet up on to elevate them. 8"-10" is often enough. The other thing I do is to sit with my legs folded "indian style" inside the hammock to avoid the edge pressure under my thigh. There are variations where I fold one leg and stretch the other out straight along the length of the hammock. I can always get comfortable.

I'm a small guy and have some issues laying back in my blackbird, it just doesn't feel fright. If I sit up, its cool, but as a lounger something is just...off. I think its from me hitting the shelf or something, I don't know.

I started years ago with a HH. Back then the only way you could use the Hennessy as a chair was to fold it back on itself.
Did not make a good lounger but as a chair it wasn't bad except for laying on the bug net.
Fast forward today I have a WBBB and out of force of habit I just naturally folded it back on itself.
If you do this there will never be leg strain and it will be comfortable in the chair configuration.

If you're going to lounge climb inside!

The first couple of DIY hammocks, I modified the gathered-end and always had the leg pressure. Switched to the stretch-side, and the pressure was gone. The last DIY is a channel end with integrated bug net, and that one has the leg pressure on it. Folding the fabric is the trick......RR
